General Information
The 1940 consumer catalogue consisted of 64 pages -- representing the largest
prewar catalogue to date. Once again, the scale Hudson graced the cover of the
consumer catalogue for the third time on the prior four consumer catalogues.
The cover depicts a small father and son standing next to a UCS controller
and watching a scale Hudson rolls by each of them. While watching the steamer,
the father proclaims 'That's the scale model for us, son!
An interest note regarding the rear cover is the picture of an old # 5 steamer.
Lionel used this steamer -- last produced in 1907 -- to boast its leadership
position within the railroading industry.
