General Information

Lionel consumers must have been delighted when browsing the 1947 catalogue. Besides doubling in size (32 pages for 1947 compared to 16 pages for 1946), it also introduced two impressive and long-lived products: the GG1 electric locomotive and infamous operating milk car.

The 1947 consumer catalogue displayed an impressive 18 different sets. Additionally, there were several pages of individual locomotives, rolling stock, track plans and accessories. All-in-all, the product selections and offerings were excellent for the year. But as collectors now know, the best was yet to come!
