General Information
To celebrate 1950 -- Lionel’s ‘Golden Anniversary’ -- several new and impressive locomotives were introduced. The scale-like 773 Hudson and premium tender was only available this year while other product staples included a twin motored GG1 and an all-new Alco AA diesel set.
Similar to their trains, Lionel printed several hard-to-find and collectable paper products in 1950. Due to underestimating demand for the year, most dealers ran out of regular consumer catalogues – leaving the 1950 annual catalogue as one of the hardest postwar catalogues to locate. Additionally, other sought-after paper products from the year include the Gold Covered annual catalogue, the ’Sorry…' catalogue and Magic of Magne-traction booklets. These are just a few of the paper products collectors continue to search for from 1950.
