General Information
The 1962 Lionel consumer catalogue has the distinction of being the largest catalogue ever printed by the original Lionel company. At 100 pages, it included every product line: racing cars, science kits, tool kits, record, tape players -- and even some trains!
As for the 1962 trains, Lionel's space and military related items were overwhelming -- appearing in almost every set as well as for separate sale. The days of adding a prototypical box car, tanker or gondola were almost gone. Splashy space and military graphics or whimsical operating cars were now the norm.
