1963 Company Publications Page Last Updated 11/30/07
|
Consumer Catalogue Pictured Above |
At 56 pages, the 1963 catalogue was almost 40% smaller than the 100-page 1962 catalogue. This might sound significant but the 1963 catalogue is in line with most other postwar catalogues. Until this point in time, the average postwar consumer catalogue printed by Lionel consisted of 40 and 60 pages. The size of the 1962 catalogue was a significant exception to all other catalogues. As for the 1963 product line, nothing was new for the year. Althought new stock numbers did appear on a few freight and motive power items, these new numbers represented only minor feature changes to the train compared to prior years. Finally -- and almost lost entirely -- is the name of Lionel for 1963. This was the year Lionel changed its name from The Lionel Corporation to The Lionel Toy Corporation. This change is seen on page 2. |
