General Information

Lionel produced numerous Prairie-type steam locomotives during the postwar era. Standard features of most Lionel Prairie steamers include: smoke, magne-traction and an illuminated headlight.

The 2018 locomotive is a scaled-down Prairie. It includes smoke and an illuminated headlight, but lacks magne-traction.

Additionally, the 2018 was sold with either a whistling or non-whistling tender. Because of the different tender combinations, the 2018 instruction sheet has two significant variations. One version lists a whistle tender and the second is for non-whistling tenders. When purchasing a 2018 instruction sheet for your collection, you should consider the correct variation based upon your specific tender.
